چکیده
One of the main limitations high-performance composite materials is failure due to fatigue crack propagation during service. Traditional repair methods can be expensive and time-consuming. For this reason, research in field self-healing composites has considerably increased past decade. At aim, work focused on production a polyamide 6 (PA6) matrix with properties. Cyclic olefinic copolymer (COC) was selected as healing agent it melt compounded PA6. From scanning electron microscope micrographs, possible highlight immiscibility lack interfacial adhesion between constituents. The efficiency system evaluated by comparing blends' fracture toughness (KIC), both quasi-static impact mode, before after process performed at 140°C applying pressure 0.5 MPa. Through addition 30 wt% COC, virgin samples slightly decreased, passing from 2.3 MPa·m1/2 neat PA6 2.1 MPa·m1/2. However, presence COC homogeneously distributed within led 11% mode 35% mode.

Ricinoloxazoline maleinate (OXA) was grafted by melt free radical grafting onto polyolefins and elastomers to produce new compatibilizers for polymer blends. Effects of initial monomer and peroxide concentrations on the degree of grafting, on the amount of residual monomer, and on the side reactions were investigated. Reactive compatibilizers could be prepared with a suitable choice of processi...

Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), and solid-state 15N nuclear magnetic resonance (15N-NMR) spectroscopies were used to characterize the structure and relative strength of the interactions between metal sulfonate and amide groups in blends of lightly sulfonated polystyrene ionomers and an N-methylated polyamide, poly(N,N′-dimethylethylene sebacamide), and ...
متن کاملConjugated-Polymer Blends for Optoelectronics
Solution-processed polymer optoelectronic devices such as light-emitting diodes and solar cells have many advantages for large-area manufacture, and show increasing levels of performance. Here, we review recent progress in using blends of two conjugated polymers for optoelectronic devices. The blending of two or more polymers allows tuning of device performance, and for photovoltaics presents a...

متن کاملThermodynamics of Polymer Blends 2
This chapter summarizes the thermodynamics of multicomponent polymer systems, with special emphasis on polymer blends and mixtures. After a brief introduction of the relevant thermodynamic principles – laws of thermodynamics, definitions, and interrelations of thermodynamic variables and potentials – selected theories of liquid and polymer mixtures are provided: Specifically, both lattice theor...
